The Fifth Semester University Examinations for all undergraduate programmes will begin on Wednesday, 9th November 2016, and will end on Thursday 17th November 2016. The examination will be held from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.


58 final year students from various UG and PG programmes including MCJ, MCom, MSW, MA English Literature, BA English Literature, BCom and BSc Mathematics appeared for the test on Tuesday October 25, 2016, conducted as part of campus recruitment by Asianet News Channel, the No. 1 Malayalam 24-hour News Channel in Kerala. A three member HR team from Asianet News Channel coordinated by Smt. Rajalekshmi came from Thiruvananthapuram, the headquarters of Asianet News. “This was a great privilege and a golden opportunity. The test was primarily to check the candidate’s ascendancy over current affairs, aptitude for journalism and writing skill, said Sibil Jose, one of the students doing MCJ.

Don Bosco Arts & Science college conducted SLATE - Intercollegiate Literary Fest on Track .


The second edition of SLATE, the South Indian Literary Fest being held here will have a grand finale, with the privileged presence of chief guest Jayararj Warrier, actor playing comedy roles in movies and popular television anchor entertaining Keralites across the world. Jayaraj Warrier will perform one-hour mimics and then present the prizes to the winners in the various literary competitions held during the two-day gala. The concluding programme will begin at 6 p.m. and will end at 8.30 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Fr. Davis Chiramel, the Chairman of Kidney Federation of Kerala, will also address the gathering in the colourful concluding function, punctuated with dances and songs performed by the students.


Noted painter, former Chairman, Kerala Lalitha Kala Academy and Editor-in-Charge, Malayala Manorama Weekly, the largest circulated weekly in India, Shri. K.A. Francis formally released ‘Maruku’, the Mark of Identity, the college magazine of Don Bosco Arts & Science College, Angadikadavu., during a colourful function at the auditorium on Friday, October 14, 2016. Handing over the first copy to Fr. Joyce Thonikuzhiyil , the Provincial Superior, K.A. Francis said, “The theme of the magazine, ‘Self-identity’ is relevant. Each one has a unique existence and is expected to leave an indelible mark with one’s life.” Fr. Joyce in his keynote address urged the students to use the opportunities they get in the campus to identify, promote and exhibit their talents. The college magazine showcases the literary talents. Campus life should be made the most fulfilling years of one’s life. College Manager Fr. Dr. Thomas K.O. Principal, Fr. Dr. Francis Karackat and Vice-Principal, Fr. Bastin Nellisery offered felicitations and congratulated the editorial team. Staff Editor, Previn P.F from department of Journalism introduced the magazine to the campus. Don Bosco Arts & Science College will go to the polls on Friday, October 7, 2016, deciding the fate of 27 candidates contesting in various seats for the College Union of this academic year. The one-to-one campaigning by the candidates will end on Thursday, October 6, with a meet-the candidate programme in the afternoon. 18 candidates are in the fray for the eight major seats of chairman, vice chairman, general secretary, joint secretary, university union councilor, secretary of fine arts, student editor for college magazine and general captain. Sabio Baby Joseph from third semester B.Com Computer and Unais Parakkandy from third semester BBA are the candidates for the post of the chairman. The minor seats include the representatives of different batches. In the presidential form of elections, every student of the college will exercise their franchise.


In the Kannur University Intercollegiate Swimming Championship held at School of Physical Education and Sports Science, Mangattuparamba on 30th September, 2016, students from here left an indelible mark with their amazing performance winning four prizes. In 100 meters free style, Amal Tom from BA English Literature bagged the first prize. He won the second prize in both 50 and 200 meters free style competitions. In 100 meters relay, Renji Sebastian and Shermal Mathew from BBA and Vinil Sebastian and Amal Tom from BA English Literature secured second place.


About 800 Catholic students doing their undergraduate and postgraduate programmes here will participate in the four-day Inner Healing Spiritual Retreat, animated by the Sehion Retreat Centre Team, Attapady, the most sought-after spiritual renewal centre in Kerala. The retreat will be held from 9.35 to 3.30 from September 28th Wednesday to October 1, 2016. About 15 seasoned and gifted counselors from the Centre will be available for counseling. Confession will be arranged for students on Thursday.


About 300 non-Catholic students doing their undergraduate and postgraduate programmes here will undergo four-day Emotional Intelligence Proficiency Workshop, conducted by a leading Personality Development Training Team from Trivandrum. The workshop centered on Daniel Goleman’s bestseller “Emotional Intelligence”, will enable students to master the art of self-ascendancy and emotional balance. The programme will be held from 9.35 to 3.30 from September 28th Wednesday to October 1, 2016.


Akza Jose from First Semester M.Com Finance, and Alna Raj from First Semester BSW were in the final rounds of university level women’s intercollegiate badminton tournament, winning the third place in neck-and-neck contests.


Students of Don Bosco Arts & Science College once again proved their resourcefulness winning two intercollegiate quiz competitions held in Kannur University. Sabio Baby Joseph and Augustine Joshy from Third Semester B.Com Computer Application secured second place in commerce quiz contest at Mahatma Gandhi College, Iritty on September 7, 2016. They received a cash prize of Rs.2000. Alan Vincent and Nirmal Varghese, from Third Semester B.Com Computer Application bagged third place with a cash prize of Rs.1001 in business quiz competition held at S.E.S College, Sreekandapuram on August 3, 2016.


The First Semester B.Com Co-operation students made a difference in manifesting their concern for the deprived and the marginalized sections of the society, spending a day with the mental patients washing their clothes, bed sheets and blankets. The students accompanied by their class teacher Soorya Thankachan, and the Physical Education Faculty, Bibin Antony, were at ‘Sneha Bhavan’, the centre for the rehabilitation of about 100 mental patients at Koottupuzha on September 7, 2016. Students sponsored a sumptuous meal for the inmates. Students interacted with the inmates and entertained them with cultural programmes. “It was a unique experience, making us realize the many blessings that we need to thank God for and inviting us to identify with the have-nots”, said a participant of the outreach programme.
