Don Bosco Arts & Science College, Angadikadavu was the venue for the Grama Sabha convened by Ayyankunnu Panchayat at 2 p.m. on Monday, 5th December, 2016. People from all the 16 wards in the Panchayat participated in the meeting presided over by the Panchayat President Adv. Sheeja Sebastian.


The Department of Social Work at Don Bosco Arts & Science College made the International Day of People with Disability special, bringing together all the physically and mentally challenged citizens from Ayyankunnu Panchayat, with the support of the Panchayat Authorities. About 150 persons along with their family members participated in the programme held in the seminar hall at 3 p.m. on Monday December 5, 2016. The special packages and schemes offered by the Government for the disabled persons were discussed and the grievances of the beneficiaries were given the required hearing. Ayyankunnu Panchayat President Adv. Sheeja Sebastian inaugurated the Disability Day Celebrations. Principal Fr. Dr. Francis Karackat delivered the presidential address. Mr. Zhavierkutty Francis, Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work made a detailed presentation on the significance of the day. The International Day of People with Disability is a day that has been promoted by the United Nations since 1992. The aim of Disability Day is to encourage a better understanding of people affected by a disability, together with helping to make people more aware of the rights, dignity and welfare of disabled people, as well as raise awareness about the benefits of integrating disabled persons into every aspect of life, from economic, to political, to social and cultural.


Lujain Seed Hussain, Ashbin Saji, Amarjith Anil and Jibin Babu from First Semester BCom Computer Applications, added another feather to Kannur University’s unparalleled Institute of Higher Education, Don Bosco Arts & Science College, Angadikadavu, winning the first prize in Marketing Game held as part of Karmanta, the national level management fest organized by Vimal Jyothi Institute of Management and Research, Chemperi on 29th and 30th November, 2016. They won a cash prize of Rs.12000, apart from the winners’ trophy and merit certificate. The students from the First Semester MCom Finance won the third prize for both for Finance and Marketing Game contests. In the dance fest, students from the First Semester UG batches secured the third prize.


The first semester University examinations for all the students doing their undergraduate programmes will commence on Wednesday 7th December, 2016 BCom, BA English Literature and BSW examinations will end on 16th December 2016. BBA and BSc Mathematics examinations will end on 19th December 2016. BCA examinations will end on 22nd December 2016.


Second Semester MCJ University Examinations to end on 22nd December 2016


Roshan Raj and Prince Augustin doing their First Semester MCJ (Master of Communication and Journalism) here won the first prize in the debate competition in English conducted as part of Media Fest by the Department of Journalism, Kariavattom Campus, Kerala University. There were ten teams in the contest and the topic for the debate was “Women’s Entry in Sabarimala. The Media Fest was held from 16th to 18th November 2016 in the Kariavattom Campus, Thiruvananthapuram.


The Third Semester University Examinations for students doing their undergraduate programmes will commence on Tuesday, 22nd November 2016 and will end on Friday, 2nd December 2016.


Defeating the seasoned players of SN College Kannur, the basketball team from Angadikadavu Don Bosco Arts & Science College, won the semifinals in the university level intercollegiate basketball tournament concluded on Wednesday, November 2, 2016. It was a neck-and-neck fight, with a single point lead. The score was 61-60. Two players Vince Vinoy from BBA and Jibin Mathew from BCA are selected for the university team and will represent the University of Kannur in the national level basketball tournaments. All the 12 players in the team will get grace marks in the University examinations.


Mr.Vijil Kumar, who represented the Kerala team for four consecutive years in the national games and currently working as the basketball coach at Ezhimala Naval Academy is now on a month-long coaching camp in the morning and evening training the college basketball team, ahead of the upcoming Kannur University matches held from October 31 to November 2 at SES College, Sreekandapuram. “Our practice rounds are more systematic and we have now the required tactics to work as a team and score points. There is no doubt that our team will come out in flying colours, with the new inputs that we gained from Vijil Sir,” said Ashwin Thomas from B.Com Fourth Semester who was in the college team last year also. The Fifth Semester University Examinations for all undergraduate programmes will begin on Wednesday, 9th November 2016, and will end on Thursday 17th November 2016. The examination will be held from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.


58 final year students from various UG and PG programmes including MCJ, MCom, MSW, MA English Literature, BA English Literature, BCom and BSc Mathematics appeared for the test on Tuesday October 25, 2016, conducted as part of campus recruitment by Asianet News Channel, the No. 1 Malayalam 24-hour News Channel in Kerala. A three member HR team from Asianet News Channel coordinated by Smt. Rajalekshmi came from Thiruvananthapuram, the headquarters of Asianet News. “This was a great privilege and a golden opportunity. The test was primarily to check the candidate’s ascendancy over current affairs, aptitude for journalism and writing skill, said Sibil Jose, one of the students doing MCJ.

Don Bosco Arts & Science college conducted SLATE - Intercollegiate Literary Fest on Track .


The second edition of SLATE, the South Indian Literary Fest being held here will have a grand finale, with the privileged presence of chief guest Jayararj Warrier, actor playing comedy roles in movies and popular television anchor entertaining Keralites across the world. Jayaraj Warrier will perform one-hour mimics and then present the prizes to the winners in the various literary competitions held during the two-day gala. The concluding programme will begin at 6 p.m. and will end at 8.30 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Fr. Davis Chiramel, the Chairman of Kidney Federation of Kerala, will also address the gathering in the colourful concluding function, punctuated with dances and songs performed by the students.


Noted painter, former Chairman, Kerala Lalitha Kala Academy and Editor-in-Charge, Malayala Manorama Weekly, the largest circulated weekly in India, Shri. K.A. Francis formally released ‘Maruku’, the Mark of Identity, the college magazine of Don Bosco Arts & Science College, Angadikadavu., during a colourful function at the auditorium on Friday, October 14, 2016. Handing over the first copy to Fr. Joyce Thonikuzhiyil , the Provincial Superior, K.A. Francis said, “The theme of the magazine, ‘Self-identity’ is relevant. Each one has a unique existence and is expected to leave an indelible mark with one’s life.” Fr. Joyce in his keynote address urged the students to use the opportunities they get in the campus to identify, promote and exhibit their talents. The college magazine showcases the literary talents. Campus life should be made the most fulfilling years of one’s life. College Manager Fr. Dr. Thomas K.O. Principal, Fr. Dr. Francis Karackat and Vice-Principal, Fr.
