Fr. Jojo Manimala OFM Capuchin, doing his MSW at Don Bosco Arts & Science College, Angadikadavu, will donate his Kidney , Tuesday, February 2. Whether it’s flood or pandemic, or anything for that matter, nothing can deter the social consciousness of the students of Don Bosco College Angadikadavu. The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of the college won the Best NSS Unit Award in 2019-2020 from Kannur University, Kerala for their philanthropic works. The Best NSS Programme Officer Award and the Best NSS Volunteer Award are won by Nithinkuttan PK and Akhil Devasia respectively. Similarly, the NSS Unit won awards in the academic year 2017-2018. The Don Bosco NSS Unit has 100 student volunteers and two programme officers. The various programmes aim to instil the idea of social welfare in students and service to society. The college has built three homes, Snehaveedu, for the needy in three consecutive years. The student volunteers are at the forefront in the education of tribal youth, relief-works during the floods and the pandemic, organic farming, free food distribution for the children in orphanages, anti-tobacco and anti-drugs campaigns, and awareness workshops for various stakeholders. The National Service Scheme was launched in 1969 at the Birth Centenary Year of Gandhiji by the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to instil social consciousness in students by providing opportunities to work with and among the people.


We, the NSS units of Don Bosco Arts & Science College, Angadikadavu commemorated Sri. APJ Abdul Kalam, our former president on 27 th July 2020 on his death anniversary day. We conducted different programmes on that day with JCI Iritty and Sulthan Bathery. Essay writing competition and elocution conducted among high school, higher secondary and college students. We got entries from different schools and colleges in Kannur and Kasargod district. Anietta Ebraham and Amrutha E.M, students of Edoor higher secondary school bagged the first and second prize respectively in speech competition. Ashfeena. P.P., student of Dental College, Anjarakandy won first prize in Essay writing competition. The second prize for essay writing competition was won by Vismaya N.M. of Don Bosco Arts & Science College, Angadikadavu. After declaring the winners, on 3rd August 2020, the programme officers Sri. Nithin Kuttan P.K., Smt. Jisha E. and the volunteer secretary Mathews Jyothis Jimmy with JCI president Sri. Danesh Edakkanam visited the winners’ house. A memento and a book of Sri. APJ were presented to the champions.


Diya Stella Mathew, student from third year BCA (2017-20 batch) is selected by WIPRO through the campus placement derive. She selected after the online test conducted at Don Bosco Arts & Science College, Angadikadavu on 10-01-2020 followed by the Technical Interview on 01-02-2020 and HR Interview on 02-02-2020 both conducted at Farook College, Calicut. Diya is selected for WILP (Work Integrated Learning Programme). ie ., while working in WIPRO she will study for 4 year Masters Degree M.Tech with stipend.


In the Senior National Tug-of-War Championship held at Maharashtra, Kerala team consisting of four students from Don Bosco Arts and Science College won the overall championship title. Aleena T.S ( MSW), T. Anagha Chandran (BA), Nithin Thomas (B.Com Co-operation), Anand Thomas (B.Com Computer Application) were in the National team.


Adding another feather to the cap of Don Bosco Arts and Science college, Shan P. Shaju - BA English (2017-20) has won third prize in Inter-Collegiate Judo Championship.


A Training Programme for 247 girl students of Don Bosco Arts and Science College on Self Defense was conducted on 11-12-2019 by the combined team of Karikottakkary Police and Women Cell of Kannur. The programme was inaugurated by Adv. Sheeja Sebastian, the President of Ayyankunnu Grama Panchayath. The Inaugural Ceremony was chared by Fr. Dr. Francis Karackat, Principal of Don Bosco Arts & Science College and felicitated by Fr. Dr. Thomas K.O., Manager of Don Bosco Institution of Higher Education. Sub Inspector Mr. Benny M.J. of Karikottakkary Police Station has briefed the students on the importance of self defense and the women police personnel has given the Practical Training to the students on Self Defense. The Students were immensely benefited from the programme.


Don Bosco International Head of Higher Education, Fr Marcelo Farfan visited the campus on 20th November 2019. He had met all the teaching and non-teaching staffs and took a session where he discussed about the ideal ways of developing our education system. The session was interesting as well as interactive. He will return to Italy on 21st November 2019.

Making the college proud, a team of 10 students from Don Bosco arts and Science College won the third prize in Inter-collegiate ball badminton championship. Adding glory to the victory, Stenil-P-Jacob-BCom-Finance - (2019-22) has been selected to University ball badminton selection camp.

Hearty congratulations to Vipin Muraleedharan – MCJ (2011-2013 Batch) who is the one and only cameraman chosen from Asianet News channel to go to NASA in USA on 21st October 2019, for the production of 7-episode programme 'Space Salute'. He is in the US now and will return on 2nd November 2019.
