Nine Students Secured "outstanding" and Five Students Secured "A" Grade


Angadikadavu, Jul. 28. Emulating the human values of the Former and Late President of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, on his sixth death anniversary, the students of Don Bosco Arts & Science College, Angadikadavu, felicitated four city cleaning staff of Iritty Municipality. Dr APJ Abdul Kalam died on July 27, 2015, while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, collapsed and died from an apparent cardiac arrest, has left a legacy of respecting the lower cadre workers. It is appropriate to learn a lesson or two from the 'rocket-man' of India, Abdul Kalam, who was down-to-earth in his values and apply it to one's life, said Father Bastin, Rector and Manager of Don Bosco College, in his presidential address. As a mark of respect and honouring, the dignitaries on the dais moved back to make the cleaning staff occupy the front row. The National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of the college with programme officers, Nithin Kuttan and Jisha E, organized the felicitation programme. The four workers, Prasanna, Thambhai, Rajeevan and Santhosh, representing the workforce of the Municipality, are in service for a decade and more; Santhosh being in service for 26 years. The Iritty Municipal Chairperson, Sreelatha K, draped the staff with shawls and gave away mementoes and gift coupons. She appreciated and thanked the workers for their dedicated service. ''The city is clean and liveable because of their unstinted service,'' said the Chairperson. The Kannur University NSS representative, Pradeesh Kumar, hailed the students for their service to society, especially the felicitation programme recognizing the lower cadre workers.


Malayalam Short Story writer and a Past Pupil of Don Bosco Arts & Science College Angadikadavu, Kerala, Abin Joseph, has been selected for this year's Kendra Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar. Abin's short story collection, ''Kalliassery Thesis'', won the prestigious award. ''Kalliassery Thesis'' is a collection of eight short stories. The award consists of 50,000 in cash and a plaque. Abin completed Master Degree in Journalism and Communication from Don Bosco College Angadikadavu in 2013. Since then, he has worked in the mainstream print media. He is a recipient of several awards in this short span of writing; Kerala Sahitya Akademi Githahiran Endowment, Uroob Award, Kolkata Malayali Samajam Endowment, Kannur University Kadhapuraskaram, Kalakaumudhi Puraskaram are some among them. Kendra Sahitya Akademy Yuva Puraskar is the icing on the cake.

As COVID protocol cannot be enforced in hostels, and everyone will be on risk in doing so, university has given option for students in Kasargode, Kannur and Wayanad districts to choose one of the following colleges given below as their examination centre: Kasargod District : 1.Government College, Kasaragod  2.Nehru Arts & Science College, Kanhangad  Kannur District: 1.St Joseph College, Pilathara 2. Sir Syed College, Taliparamba  3. Kannur University Campus, Thavakkara  4. MG College, Iritty  Wayanad District : 1. Mary Matha Arts and Science College, Mananthavady The examinations are likely to be held from 11 am to 2 pm for the students to reach the examination centre on time.  There will also be one day gap for each of the examinations, to give the required time for preparation.  Since the number of options for the change of examination centre is less, students who are able to come and write here in our own  college, should do so.  Those who intend to change the examination centre should give your name officially to your class teacher by 3.30 pm tomorrow, Friday.  Principal will verify the genuineness of the application for the change of examination centre, and those candidates who are eligible will be recommended to the Controller of Examinations for the required arrangements by the university.  Hostels will not be available for stay for examinations. 


The NSS unit 47 and 52 of Don Bosco Arts & Science College,Angadikadavu will be led by Laya A V and Akshay Biju.


Dr. Stenza Miss who completed her PhD in English Literature from the Central University, Shillong, will be Incharge of MA English Literature from today.  Stenza Miss was working here earlier as incharge of BA English Literature and was teaching MA English Literature students.  We thank Deepa Miss for being Incharge of MA English so far. She will continue in the Department.  We also thank Sr. Mercy FMA who is on transfer. We appreciate her for her sincere service in the last two years.
