Arts & Science College

The genesis of Don Bosco Arts and Science College (DBASC), Angadikadavu can be traced back to the year 1992. Mr. Thomas Thanangattu, a past pupil of Don Bosco and proprietor of GINA Engineering Company, a leading construction firm in Bangalore donated six acres of land from his ancestral property to the Salesians of Don Bosco for establishing a college for those seeking a quality institute for higher education in northern districts of Kerala.

Don Bosco Arts & Science College had a humble beginning in 1994 as a Parallel College, offering pre-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate courses of Calicut University for about 600 students, with Fr. Thomas Poovelickal SDB as Rector and Manager, and Bro. Shaji Kalavanal SDB as Principal.

It was in recognition of the credibility of the institution with its state-of-the-art infrastructure offering quality education to students that I donated a large number of books to Don Bosco Arts & Science College, Angadikadavu. Some of those books are rare collections. I had bought them while being at Temple University, Philadelphia.I had visited the campus few times, and had once stayed there for almost three weeks, taking journalism lectures for students and had addressed the large gathering of students, staff and parents as part of the College Day and the Merit Day Celebrations. Appreciating the professionalism found in the Department of Journalism, I instituted special scholarships to the best performing students in Journalism and English Departments. The Department of Journalism there is best equipped. Being an institution of repute, I am sure, the management will continue to keep abreast of the times, going always for the latest and the best.
